Well, we got a call on Tuesday around 5pm from OCS letting us know that Kaleb's mom wanted to bring his brother Jordan in. She was gonna be bringing him in on Thursday and so we kinda had to make a decision fast. This is Jacob's twin brother. I told Nick that I wanted Kaleb's straight up opinion. So Nick asked him if he liked Jordan and how they got along and then we told him about his mom and giving up Jordan and he replied "he can come live with us." All excited and loud (mr. impulsive himself). I almost cried when he said it because it felt like confirmation anyway, just need lots of prayer. He doesn't look anything like Jacob and he's almost a foot taller.
Jordan, Kaleb, & Jacob
Like I said we did not have much time to pray about this and really our answer from the Lord is "why not". So, he arrived at our house around 3:30 on Thursday and Nick and Kaleb were both already home too. He really didn't say much. Kaleb showed him around and then they just started watching a movie. We ended up going to grab a bite to eat at Italian Pie with Jacob's family. When Jacob and Jordan first saw each other they immediately began chatting away. Jacob has been really concerned and worried about Jordan. Then we grabbed some ice cream from Baskin Robbins. We headed to Jacob's house to get an extra bed and dresser. We put the dresser and bed in the room for the night and then moved the desk out on Friday. So, all of a sudden we are a family of four and it has been about 3 days and so far so good. Jordan has began getting a little more comfortable and is talking more.

AAAHHHHH....FINALLY

Lots of "new" going on at the house. We have a new toilet in our bathroom. Both of the toilets we bought when we fixed up the house broke within months of installation. They both run water so you have to turn on the water everytime you use it. Then our toilet didn't flush very well and I brought a bucket in and we would fill it up in the tub. We had a plumber come out and he said, "that's what I call a defective toilet." Well, our toilet has been the source of many discussions and they were mainly instigated by me. When Nick said he was gonna install a new toilet I wasn't sure if I should start jumping up and down or remain calm. Well, I just started singing and doing a "new toilet dance." I was soooo thrilled and fyi I can't dance. Poor Kaleb's toilet on the other hand still needs to be shut off. We bought a new flapper and Nick and him tried to fix that piece of garbage, but it just didn't work.
Now for the other new thing. The pink is gone. If any of you know me well enough. I hate pink. I just know God is gonna give me a daughter that loves pink to humor me. So, when we first saw this house that I knew we would purchase right away. I saw the pink and said to myself, "i think there is a lot of work to be done and painting the outside posts and shutters will be the last thing on the list and I will have to live with the ugly pink." Well, sure enough I was right. In March it will be 3 years that God has blessed us with living in our house. I haven't minded the pink, but would hate for people to think that I like the color pink. Yuck, yuck, and more yuck. So, now it is painted a tan color. I preferred a darker tan so it would stand out more and Nick liked a lighter color. All that mattered to me in the end was that the pink would be gone.
Oh, I can't forget the mailbox. Can you believe a real mailbox. I just kept thinking of our mail man and how surprised he would be to see a real mailbox.

The Big 30!!!

Brock telling us something interesting.
I never imagined me turning 30 would come this soon-but it did. Anyway, I had a great birthday. My dad & I have the same birthday. We went to Folsom around lunch time and had a good time. Nick installed a door on the tool shed. Kaleb played with Cohen. Then we headed to Meghan's house to drop some things off. Kaleb was hungry. He's always hungry. So we decided for something decent priced and stopped at Waffle House. The bill was under $15, thanks to the great waitress giving us hints on how to order so it was cheaper. She told us to order a double waffle and to get Kaleb the kid's meal, but of course he doesn't like that term. So that was a blessing.
I always thought that once I finished college I would feel like an adult. That wasn't the case. Then I thought once I got married. Then I thought once I had a paid salary. Then I thought it would definitely be when I had a kid. Nope, still don't feel like an adult and I don't look like one either. I get that I look so young sooo often and I know it's a good thing, but sometimes it can get old.
Since, I'm around youth and I kinda just blend in I am mistaken for a youth always. So, turning 30 is really like a wow to me and most people. Also, I am a year older than Nick and so he likes to rub it in from time to time.

Ringing in the New Year 2010!!!

The evidence!!!
We have never had any set plans for NYE. Nick's friend Speros said he was gonna be in town and would like to see his friends. Nick & I invited a few peeps over to catch up. Adam said he was bringing his own firework. He calls it his cannon and he wanted to blow it up in front of our house and Nick was just not allowing it. Well, after we drove to the lakefront and then ended up in Bucktown...we are all thankful he did not blow it up in our driveway. It was soooooo LLLLOOOUUUDDDDDDDD!!!!!! Nick was like I told u all I knew Adam and it would be extremely loud. Sure enough that thing set off a car alarm about a block away.

Kaleb & Nick with a few fireworks.

ENDING 2009
Well, I have always considered doing a blog and thought it would be a great way for peeps to know what's going on.
Nick & I would have to say the best part of 2009 was Kaleb.
6/20/2009 Here is a picture taken back in June.

Nick & I celebrated our 5 year anniversary on December 18th. Like I said before we are so blessed to have Kaleb now. Nick's mom came over to watch Kaleb while Nick took me out. We headed to Slidell and walked around Old Town, which is a really neat area if you have never been.
12/18/2009 5 year anniversary

Saturday's are pretty much booked for Nick till February. Kaleb heard me talking to my mom and heard they were at the track and he wanted to go.

We had a great time at the Fogarty Christmas Party. Susan was sooo excited for us that I think she told me about the party in August.

We celebrated Christmas with Will on Monday before Christmas because he would be gone for Christmas.
12/21/2009 Christmas with Will

It was a great Christmas and Kaleb said, "this was my best Christmas ever". We were so glad to have a son for Christmas. Last year we thought we would never have one at the rate the government works. This new year entails a lot of changes for us. We are excited about them.
12/25/2009 First Christmas with Kaleb

Great News: Found out December 28th after waiting for 2 months that the court date is set for February 24th to terminate parents rights. We are so thrilled. Then we can start the adoption process. I would tell you how that works, but I get different stories and of course we are talking about the government once again.
Over the holidays Kaleb was able to hang out with his brother a good bit and that was fun. Kaleb really likes his brother, but Kaleb sure does like to boss him around and nag the mess out of him. His brother is so nice and patient with him. I'd post a picture, but he's not mine to post.
Kaleb was able to meet all my family. My mom is 1 of 5 and my dad is 1 of 11, so I have rather large family. Nick on the other hand has parents that are both only children. Nick still hasn't figure out everyone which I totally understand.

12/26/2009 Drouet Christmas Party in Folsom

Well, wow with those pics one can see he definitely fits in the family.
I have really been working on him saying yes mam and no mam. The other night at a Christmas party I asked him something and he did not respond correctly so i said, "excuse me" and he just said, "yes mam" and my cousin responded with "I like that, i really like that" and I said "that's not always his response, but he's learning". It was really cute.
